This blog is all about...
Well my family of course! My babies are growing up way to fast and I want to remember everything. This helps, when I remember to update it.
But I also love to cook, take pictures, get crafty, and try new things.
My boys get tired of the same thing over and over again so I am constantly trying new recipes. I have started keeping up with them here. The original links are in each post to give credit to the creators. I add my reviews, changes, and pictures (sometimes).

Gabrielle Surgery 2.0
It is now September and we haven't had any ear infections, one bout of her ear draining from stupid allergies, and her speech is noticeably clearer.

Teeth
Yes folks, those are teeth. That makes six. Four up front, two molars on top, and the two bottom molars are working their way in.
***Please ignore the giant baby boogie. She's been sick, and runs from the tissue.
Broken Arm
Our first big accident was Gabrielle's broken arm. At the end of March she fell off of a play structure at preschool. I will never forget that week, and I hope she was young enough that she won't remember a thing.
The phone call came at lunch time on a Wednesday. She fell and her arm was swelling. I rushed out of work and took her to urgent care. They got us back fairly quickly, x ray, and pain meds. It was bad enough that all they would do was splint it. So we rushed to the ER. After we battled the waiting room with grandma it got crazy. Our phones wouldn't work in the back, she was dressed in a gown, hooked up to an IV, the computers went down, and the pediatric orthopedic surgeon left. So we went from being ready for surgery to being sent home and told to make an appointment with the surgeon.
The next day (Thursday) we were able to get in to the orthopedic surgeons office and get more xrays done. We didn't realize how bad the break was until we sat down and talked to him. A very common break in children, but hers was on the bad side. The only thing worse would have been a compound fracture. We were the first appointment for surgery that Friday.
Everyone was awesome and made this whole experience manageable. The nurses, anesthesiologist, and doctor were so helpful and made her (and me) feel comfortable. The surgery went a little longer than what they said because of the severity of the break. They finally got it to hold in place and had to use 4 pins that were about 3 inches long each to keep it together.
After we got home the next few days kind of blurred together. Ethan made her a cake with rainbow sprinkles. We slept on the couch for about a week so she wouldn't hurt her arm. It was hard for her to get comfortable those first few days. Once we got her back in her own bed, and our routine got back to normal things started to get a little easier. We had family sign your hot pink cast for her to show off.
She had about four weeks in the cast and a month of at home exercises to get her range of motion back. At her final doctors appointment we got the all clear and were told that we did great with her exercises. She still has a little ways to go with her range of motion but may never get all off it back. The bone fragments and scar tissue will heal on their own. So all she is left with are some scars on her arm from the pins and a lump on each side of her elbow where it is still healing.

Back to Work Six Months Later
We always thought that if the right opportunity came along then I would go back to work. After three and a half years of staying at home with my girls and trying out the stay at home mom thing, I was glad when this job came along. It's taken this long to get in a good rhythm and get everyone used to me not being home all of the time. But I truly enjoy being back out there. My mommy brain was toast, and Cailou was my new best friend. I needed adult interaction, and the extra money helps.
It was a vicious cycle of being depressed and feeling stuck at home because we rarely had extra money, and wanting to be happy and enjoy the early years with my kids. I had to work when Ethan was a baby, we didn't have a choice. This time was different, we had a choice.
I feel like a better mom now that I have me time. We can do a little more now and live a little easier. Life is good. Thank you too those wonderful people who have helped us along the way. We are forever grateful to you.

Sick babies
My poor Layla. Fever and tired was how we spent our last day of a three day weekend. I took her to the doctor just to be sure she was ok and there weren't any other symptoms. So we just sat and snuggled all day.
I could think of worse ways to spend my day.

*Disclaimer...poop talk.
Layla told me that she had to poop. Let me sit her in the potty, played, and pooped. I'm so happy right now. 18 months old and she had that part figured out.
I just love though to pieces sweet girl. Slow down a bit for mama though. It goes by way too fast.

Ice Cream Helpers
This was a few weekends ago. Time has juat flown by and I'm having a hard time keeping up. So our blog will be a little out of order as I try to keep up.
I got Jared an ice cream maker for Christmas and this was our second batch of ice cream. This time we tried a sweet cream copy cat recipe from Cold Stone. It was delicious. I bought mint Oreos and chopped them up to add in.
YUMMY!
I pinned this recipe, so if you're interested, it's in my Goodies & Drinks board.

Happy Day Part 2
36 1/2 inches tall (90 - 95th %)
Happy Birthday baby girl. Your 3 and full of spirit and are my silly little girl. We had a small birthday party at the house with all of the family that could come. We made a rainbow cake filled with cookies and cream pudding, and topped off with runny cream cheese frosting. It was delicious!
I can't wait to see what this next year will bring for us. Big things are happening and 3 is gonna be great!
